Sudan's Rhino Horn

A Life Education Picture Book for Children

Description

Sudan's Rhino Horn is named after Sudan, the last male northern white rhino who died at the age of 45 in March 2018. The plot revolves around Sudan's horn, which symbolizes rhino existence and portrays the complex relationship between humans and nature.
Sudan's life is retold through the lens of a fairy tale based on a true story. The rhino's horn was removed three times in the story: once by Sudan's mother, once in a Czech zoo, and once in Africa to save his life.

Highlight

The rhino's horn has profound symbolic significance: the horn is a rhino's crown and its most effective weapon for defending life and territory. The most tragic feature of Sudan is that it will claim his life, despite the fact that his pride and identifying symbol is the horn. His horn and living body couldn't exist together.

This work was proofread by Zhang Jinshuo, senior engineer at the Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, science planning director at the National Zoological Museum, and director of the Chinese Science Writers Association.

The author and illustrator went to Kenya for an interview. The book includes priceless photographs of Sudan, which may be viewed by scanning the QR code on the copyright page.
